It has been a while since I have been back to my blog. Painting has been taking most of my time keeping up with all my galleries and getting into new ones. I have been working on some new ideas and the sea has been one of my favorites. Living in Houston near the sea, it has been fun to study the colors of the sky and the reflection over the water with a touch of wind. West Coast Memories painting is a memory while visiting my friend in California where she took me to a beautiful place, Pebble Beach. This is a creation full of texture and life.

The story of a great commission...

For several months John had been looking for an artist to create a water lilies painting for his new home in Baton Rouge. He fell in love with Monet Water Lilies at the Musee d'Orsay in Paris. John came upon my work at Sutton Gallery in New Orleans. He came back on a week-end where I was live painting. He was really looking forward to commission a painting and he has just the spot in mind. I drove up to his house in Baton Rouge and there he showed me the beautiful persian rug that I had to compete with. I was going to create a three pieces painting, a triptych, that would have the same tone as the rug. At the house I met his three beautiful daughters and it is then that John had the idea of dedicating each piece of the triptych to his three daughters. Before I left we finalized the plans of his new painting, a 60"x 90" water lilies. I came home to my studio and began to paint. A few weeks later, I had the privilege of personally delivering the painting in Baton Rouge. It was even more fun because this was more than a delivery, it was a dedication party! This painting was going to be dedicated to his three daughters. This was such an amazing experience to meet everyone, friends and family. John had plan every details of the party and it was a delight to be part of it. John and his daughters were delighted with the final result and said it was perfect. I was thrilled and stunned on how perfect that triptych suited that space. We could see the painting right from outside the front window so the whole neighborhood would be able to enjoy it too!

"My husband, Jake and I, recently purchased your work "Glimmering Water Lillies" from the 1870 gallery in Yountville. We can't thank you enough, our entire family adores it every day. Your work has inspired our four-year-old daughter, she wants to paint all of the time now. We must admit we are addicted to your work and we look forward to receiving future e-mails from 1870 with your additions".

Erin has an aunt, Francy, who is battling leukemia and her medical bills are mounting so they are collecting auction items for the event for October 3rd of this year. You can view more of Francy's story at teeupfortransplant.org.

I was so happy to donate a painting for this cause and was in awe of the kindnest of this family. Erin wrote me a beautiful email back to thank me and her words really touched me profoundly. Here is her second email:

"Your kind words regarding our aunt and generosity with your beautiful artwork have left my husband and I in tears. It has been an amazing experience organizing this benefit. Sometimes it feels as if the world can be such a dark and careless place and then we find the open hearts of "strangers" like you. Somehow we knew the artist behind the work that is bringing us so much peace and joy in our home would be as vibrant and inspiring as her work. We can't begin to thank you enough, Aunt Francy thanks you, all of our family and friends thank you.

Erin's email brought back to me why I became an artist. My goal is to brighten people's home with bright and colorful paintings and this is what bring joy to my heart. Thank you Erin and Jake for sharing your aunt story and may my work help to raise money for her needs.

A great new Gallery in Sacramento, CA

Helen Jones owns the gallery Helen Jones Gallery in Sacramento. She has been in business for a long time and it has been 6 months that Helen and I have enjoyed getting to know each other. She went to Paris in November and she loves France. The economy being slow in California we waited until this summer to try some of my work. Helen has really enjoyed seeing my paintings in person with all its colors and texture. She has just starting to get my paintings and she is already selling my work really well. I'm so proud to be part of the team. My husband was in Sacramento a few weeks ago to drop some more artworks and they already have been all sold so here is an other shipment to my Sacramento clients!

I want to start off by saying my name is Kristen. I'm 12 (going to be 13 on August 1st). I currently reside in South Jersey, but my family has a house in Colorado where we go for all of July. We always go somewhere else besides Colorado for a week, so this year it was Carlsbad and Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Your painting was one of my gifts for my birthday. I'm actually redoing my whole room back in NJ and I wanted to find something to start off of...because I had no clue what I wanted! When I saw "Daisy Delight", I pretty much knew I wanted it to be mine. It was pretty incredible...in the first 5 minutes of looking at the piece, I knew exactly what colors I wanted my walls, floor, bedspread, everything, to be! It was an amazing start to say the least!

I was most excited about the fact that "Daisy Delight" was my first piece of real artwork! I do plan on expanding my collection of your artwork as I grow older!

As for the picture of the painting and I, when I get back to NJ, I will get a picture to you as soon as I can.

Great Show in Santa Fe

This was my studio in Santa Fe for four days! Santa Fe Art Collector Gallery did a great show for me the week-end of the 4th of July. I drove with my family from Houston across West Texas. We enjoyed the cooler weather in Santa Fe and my family were able to visit New Mexico and hike around Taos. The staff at the gallery is so amazing that during the four day show, they sold 10 of my paintings. Way to go!

Jack White and Mikki Senkarik

It has been a priviledge to know Jack and Mikki. They are great artists and they have a mission that they love to do, help other artists in their journey. Jack has been writing many good books on how to make it in the art world. It was such an honored to finally meet them. We had a delightful time in their home for a few hours after coming back from our long trip to Santa Fe.

This two paintings were painted three years apart. The first one was painted in 2008and the second one is a commission for a client that was just finished this week. The texture in my work has evolved as well as the medium. The oldest work was created in oil, the newest work was created in acrylic giving me the great advantage of being dry the next day so I could finish the work in a week instead of a month! It is fun for me to see the little changes and I hope you will too!

Here is a special painting that was a great collaboration. Veronica went to France a few years ago and she remembered really well a little French square in Aix-en-Provence. she did not have a photo of it. It was fun to figure out where was this little place in Aix, which has many little squares around the city. The clue was a little pastery/candy store called La Cure Gourmande. I used then Google map to finally find that particular area. This page is the progression of the artwork from skecthing to painting. There is still some details that need to be done, like the lamp in the front but the work is nearly completed. Enjoy!

Greetings from Minnesota. Just about exactly two years ago, my partner and I bought one of your paintings at a gallery in downtown New Orleans. When we saw the painting in the pictures here, we knew we had to buy it. Last November we moved to a 1957 home in an old suburb of Minneapolis city limits. The living room has lots of built in mahogany and teak paneling and shelving. The property is on an acre of rather wild land that has a creek running through it, seen through a wall of plate glass windows. Your painting on the opposite wall gives exactly the right complement to the real trees outside, an organic feeling. I thought you might like to know where your painting now resides and how it looks. It gets rave reviews from everyone who sees it. I took some pictures of it for you to see.

Sunrise Forest, a beautiful home to commission

This painting was a great commission to create for a great collector. It is not often that I do architectural artwork so it was a different project with more details to it. I really enjoyed putting a lot of different texture on different area of the artwork. I draw the design of the house first on a blank canvas and then I create the painting adding the colors and the texture step by step. This is a few photos of the painting from start to finish.

New Commission of a Poppy Field

A new poppy field commission with a special request from the collector...a little path. This painting was created from a blank canvas like most of my work. The background is blended together right onto the canvas which make it very unique. Then the landscape comes to life using my painting knife coming from the mountain to the field and the creation of the path. The tree is bringing shadows to the foreground which bring the viewer into the scene. The poppies are just the first step into the finishing stage. I will post the finishing work in a few days. "Sunshine Afternoon"

This new artwork titled "Sunshine Afternoon" will be going to a very special collector's home. This is the last few steps before the finishing work is done. It took a lot of hours working on each daisy making it two coats of paint to help with the texture and to bring out the different tones of yellows and whites. The purple flowers bring a sense of movement into the field. Enjoy this new finished piece!

City Center festival in Houston

I have been part of a little outdoor show in Houston that will take place every Friday nights at the City Center from April to October. The area is fun and pleasant with beautiful water fountains, lights and food. I will be there some Fridays when I'm not in a gallery painting somewhere. Last Friday, April 1st, was my first experience and I met a lot of very diverse people enjoying my work. I was painting live outdoor. It was a little windy but that worked out was great for speeding up the drying time. I actually sold the painting I was working on right then but the new collectors, Cathy and Anton, had to wait for the painting to dry and be delivered a few days later. I had a great time sharing my life as an artist with Claudia, one of my youngest collector. Claudia is a ballerina and she loves the art world. She was so happy to own her first original artwork and couldn't wait to hand her painting "Wild Orchid" in her bedroom. I really enjoyed sharing my passion with others and it is always a great experience for to be able to show to others how life can be beautiful with the scenes of nature around us.

A new gallery in Scottsdale

I have been visiting Scottsdale to get a new gallery representation. It was a sucessful trip as I did get a few galleries to choose from. My work is now at Lawrence Gallery on Main street in the Old Scottsdale. I visited the Celebration of Fine Art where I met a lot of very creative artists, one of my favorite being Jennifer Vranes. I have learned a lot from reading her blog for the last four years and she has grown into a very successful artist but she is still a very caring person to talk too. Someone I do look up to for sure! Thank you Jen for being so fun to talk too...

New cityscape of Paris

This is a new cityscape of Paris where I use a blending technique with acrylic. It is full of texture and boldness. This painting is 30"x 60" on a wood panel. It has been a fun change to do cityscape with an impressionistic influence. I have been able to create my work with more feeling than realism and I have been really enjoying it.

New gallery addition in Santa Fe, New Mexico

I have had the privilege last week to go to Santa Fe for the first time to meet with the team at Santa Fe Art Collector Gallery. The gallery has a lot of outstanding artists and while I was there, we sold my first painting to collectors from Canada. It was a great experience with the staff as well as visiting the city itself. I'm looking forward to work with Darrell (on the photo), Phyllis and Polly.

It has been a very busy month of January working with some great galleries. I flew to Aspen to have a wonderful exhibition. I did send all my materials there so I could paint live in the gallery. This was a very memorable experience.

I have been working with a new gallery in Santa Fe and I have just shipped all my new pieces. I will be going to visit the gallery team of Santa Fe Art Collector Gallery in a few days.

I would like to leave you today with this painting that I have just finished a few days ago. It has been cold here in Houston and I was feeling like a nice summer afternoon in Provence.

After spending a few weeks in France to visit my family, I have been wanting to paint this photo. I took it while driving in the Provence where I'm from and I knew this will be a great composition. I have build up the texture on the olive tree to make it a three dimensional piece. I had to add some heavy paste on this wood panel to bring it to the thick aspect of an olive tree. And of course poppies are always surrounding olive trees in the countryside.

Exhibition "Gateway to Provence" in Ohio

I just came back from an exhibition in Ohio at Dick Kleinman gallery. I missed my photograph/husband so a lot of photos were blurr but I have some of them that can show you a little bit of the feel of the show. I met my gallery owner Dick Kleinman in his suit and John Gearhart who is the one who flew me to Cleveland so I could work on a commission for his company. I spend a wonderful day with Dick Kleinman getting a feel of the gallery and the people who live in this surburb of Cleveland. The day after the exhibition I went in the hill country of Ohio to take a lot of photos of a beautiful property. John showed me around on this 150 acres with woods and fields with wild flowers. I took over 100 photos to make sure I would have 4 or 5 good to paint. I will be working of this new commission this week and will post the finish work very soon. I had some new collectors a few months ago that visited my gallery in New Orleans and purchased a painting with Poppies at Sutton Gallery. They went to my website and saw that I had an other gallery in Colorado. They live in Boulder Colorado and wanted to see my new collection in Aspen on their vacation. They loved the gallery and were amazed that I have a whole room filled with my work and chose to purchase a second one with Water Lilies. My gallery owner Damian called me out of the blue and I was able to talk to Heather right in the gallery. She was very excited to have a second painting and told me she would send me a picture of all of them in the viewing room. Here is the photo that Heather e-mailed me. It is always a great feeling when you get to have contact and feedback from a collector. Thank you.

This artwork has been inspired by my recent trip to the French Alps. I have missed the greatness of these magnificent mountains and I was so happy to paint a scene from there. This particular scene was taking in the valley of Briancon where I painted the mountain background. Then I added the poppies in the foreground sculpted with my palette knife. This artwork was just shipped to my gallery in Aspen Colorado.

I have been gone for the last three weeks taking a big break from painting. I went to see my family in the South of France and I took over 2000 photos to get some more inspiration for the next few series to create. I enjoyed spending time with my family, my children enjoyed their cousins. We did go in the Alps and here are some of the sceneries.

Just came back from Aspen where I went to see the new gallery space and meet the owner of the Gallery, Damian. He took me hicking and enjoyed a concert of the Wailers at Snowmass. It was a great concert in plain air in the montain right on the sky slop. I had a great time discovering Aspen for the first time!

Bayou at Rest, a new water reflection

This new artwork is part of a series of Water Reflection that I have started a few months ago. I have enjoyed going to New Orleans for a few galleries that represent my work there and in January I went to do the air boat on the Barataria Bayou with Brad, my husband. We had a lot of fun and I took hundreds of photos because the light was amazing on a winter afternoon. I have been working in my mind this new series and I have done one already and it is already in a gallery in Aspen. This one was commission by an other gallery in Cleveland so it is a new series that I have been enjoyed creating.

Wate Lilies XVII

I was in New Orleans for the week-end to drop some new artwork at one of the galleries that represent my work there. This new painting is from the Water Reflection series and it is Water Lilies XVII. It is a 60"x 40", an acrylic work with a lot of texture and colors that celebrates life on canvas. I have been creating a way of blending colors that bring out the soft movement of the water reflecting on a lake. This series is nearly finished with a few more artwork to accomplished before I create a new completely different series using water again but more in an abstract way.

This artwork is from the series Horizon with Poppies. I have enjoyed creating these artwork where my mind goes on imagining. I create the background with my palette knife blending the colors often on the canvas, straight from the tube. Then I design the path of the poppies so it will bring you in the painting. They look so real with the curve that I create using my knife that it is very tempted to touch them. People that comes to my studio have been tempted to touch them but they do end up with red paint on they fingers because these poppies take many weeks to dry.

Dave and Lisa contacted me to do a commission for them. Lisa loved the blues from my artwork "Blue Facade" so I told them that I could paint on a bigger canvas a different house with the same color for the shutters. They ask me to personalize it so I added Lisa's cat in the painting. I just send them the photo of the artwork and Dave and Lisa just replied: "That's Minnie our cat. You have her down perfect! This painting is wonderful. Thank you for painting this for us. Lisa loves the house and all the colors. You are right on it! The name is very calming..."A little Quiet Place". Isabelle you are the best."

New work this week inspired by my trip to Burrough's Park in Spring, Texas. I have been studying there the water reflection from the little lake and this one is more of a creation of what it could be in the spring. It has been so cold this winter that imaging in the spring brings me warm just by thinking about it. This artwork was mainly created using different spoons and a palette knife for the water reflection. A more abstract painting of a sunset of the Golf of Mexico. This artwork was created using acrylic paint and a spoon. I have been experimenting using different sizes of spoons and the technique is quiet different than from the painting knives because the edges are so rounded. I have been going to Burrough's park near where I live and I have been inspired to paint the water reflection in winter where the light is more crisp. This one is a tree that you will see there all year long. It has a great shape to it naturally which was very fun to paint. Please join us on Saturday, January 9, from 5 - 8 pm to welcome Ms. Isabelle Dupuy with her one woman show titled, "Textures of Provence," at Bogan Gallery, 2217 Postoffice, in Galveston, Texas. Ms. Dupuy's show will be on view from January 2nd, through January 20th, 2010.

Ms. Dupuy uses the colors and images of her native Provence in France to create beautiful Impressionist canvases which border between painting and sculpture. Prevalent is the influence of Monet, both in her fields of lavendar and poppies, and in her lanes of wind swept trees and quaint villages. These works are a delight to the eyes and can brighten any space in which they are placed.

The drying time is so much faster that I'm able to paint so much more poppies' artwork like that without having to wait for ever to go over the layers! I'm using the same technique with the painting knife and the same soft background using my fingers again so it has not change a lot for the technique and the effect. It makes painting more easier and I can finish an artwork in a week instead of two months! What a change...I love it!

Just before I left to go to China for 9 days, I sold an artwork that was just finished "Burano III" and I shipped it just in time and this is the e-mail that I got back from my new collectors:"We got your spectacular painting today. "Lavender Fragrance" a new Lavender landscape using my soft effect technique "Le Fondu" in the background and the palette knife in the foreground so that the lavender seems to come out of the painting using a lot of texture. I'm working on two little one that are similar but smaller in size 12"x 12". These lavender always take a long to accomplish because it needs a lot of layers of paintings and a lot of time to dry. This week-end was a very special week-end as I said goodbye to a very special gallery Galleria Veronese and meet a new gallery owner Rick Sutton.

I have been represented with Galleria Veronese for this past year in New Orleans. Mrs. Josephine Andracchio mostly know by Miss Linda was the owner of the gallery for 40 years. She has very successfull in the French Quarter and sold 15 of my paintings in 8 months. She was a very delightful person and she sadly passed away this June, 2009. The gallery will be closing very shortly but because of her remarkable influence on Royal Street, I was able to meet with a new gallery, Sutton Galleries, with owner Rick Sutton. I'm very pleased to have a new home for my art on Royal Street and I'm looking forward to this new experience.
